EXPOSURE MONITORING AT METALS MANUFACTURING FACILITY – Environmental and Civil Engineering Firm

Novisal was retained by an engineering firm to conduct exposure monitoring for worker exposure to welding fumes, respirable/silica dust and noise at their client’s facility in NJ that manufactures pump and valve components such as sleeves, wear rings, plungers and stems. Welding fumes and metals sampled include Al, Be, Cd, Cr, Co, Cu, Fe, Pb, Mn, Mo, Ni, Sb, Ti, V and Zn.

Novisal followed NIOSH (National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health) methodologies for the collection, sampling and analysis of contaminants in workplace air. These methods have been developed or adapted by NIOSH or its partners and have been evaluated according to established experimental protocols and performance criteria. Novisal utilized a laboratory accredited by the American Industrial Hygiene Association to perform analysis of the samples.

A report of findings and recommendations was presented.
