Novisal has been chosen to provide Construction Site Safety Management in support of C.A.C. Industries, General Contractor, on the MTA Construction & Development Division’s (MTACD) C33943 Department of Capital Engineering (DCE) Car Washer Repair project. This three-year, $100M initiative calls for major facility overhauls and component replacements for essential subway car washing facilities at three train yards— 207th Street, Jamaica, and Canarsie. The scope of work includes:
- Upgrading control and monitoring systems, piping, insulation, and drain pans.
- Repairing car washer building structures (walls, roofs, steel) and systems (HVAC)
- Replacing track rails, ballast, and appurtenances at the 207th Street Yard
- Performing flood mitigation at the Canarsie Yard
- Upgrading fire alarms and intercoms
Novisal’s role will be to provide On-site Safety Management Services to oversee and enforce EHS requirements. Novisal Safety Managers will help to develop and enforce the Site-Specific Health and Safety Plans, manage the day-to-day site safety by enforcing federal, state, city, and MTA requirements, manage the daily, monthly and quarterly reporting requirements as well as manage the documentation and recordkeeping related to contractor training and certifications. Novisal will conduct JHAs, Accident/Incident Investigations, Toolbox Talks and oversee Safety Supervisors and Contractor Competent Persons.
The objective of this project is to modernize the MTA’s Automated Subway Car Wash Systems, enhancing their performance and reliability.
