As part of the John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) Redevelopment Program (Program), the Port Authority committed $3.9 billion to build the supporting infrastructure that is outside the JFK terminal 1, 4, 6/7 and 8 leaseholds of its private partners. Building 260/261, a 300,000-SF facility along North Boundary Road low, has been included under the Program.

Novisal supported our client’s dewatering efforts for a geotechnical investigation with a team of Environmental Field Technicians. Novisal was responsible for collecting groundwater effluent sampling for lab analysis. In this role, the team observed the dewatering system, confirmed that the tanks, flow meters and other equipment were working correctly and alerted the prime contractor of issues.

Specifically:

  • Collected water samples at point of discharge from the dewatering system
  • Recorded water quality measurements (pH, turbidity, and flow rate)
  • Measured and recorded water table depth at associated wells
  • Notified senior personnel of readings that may lead to potential exceedances

Each sample was analyzed for BTEX, MTBE, total suspended solids, and oil and grease.  Novisal prepared a summary report that is submitted to PANYNJ to confirm that the project’s permit standards were met.
